Lauren Cooks, Medical Assistant
Lauren graduated from Kaplan University in 2016 with an Associates of Applied Science in Medical Assisting. After graduating, the job hunt seemed very difficult and competitive until she came upon Back to Health Physical Medicine. Lauren was skeptical about Chiropractic and how it could change someone's life versus the traditional method using medication for help. She did he research and jumped on the opportunity.
"Not only are we helping patients feel better, we're getting to the root of the problem to keep them pain free."
Lauren has been a part of the Back to Health team since December 2015 and is so happy she chose this route. Currently, Lauren works in the Medical Weight Loss department and also assists with various Chiropractic passive therapies. In the Medical Weight Loss department, Lauren performs IM injections, takes daily blood draws, takes patient vital signs, assists with trigger point injections, knee injections, and stem cell injections.

Jamario "Marz" Smith, Rehab Coordinator
While Marz's professional background lies in Military Nursing and Field Medicine his expertise lies in Fitness Program Development and Ability Restoration. As a child, being one of the "why?" children with the involvement of martial arts (JKD) yielded great results of defaulted early knowledge. He quickly realized that knowing what moves the body and what allows it to move under "structured stress" somehow caused an ease of performing intermediate athletic skills that resulted in an enhancement of all basic bodily functions.
To Marz this means that thought, breath, motion, and effort were elevated in status of function.
Much to his preference when the body is in this state, it will have an effective defense against most organic viruses.

Shellie Tillson, Licensed Massage Therapist
If you were to ask Shellie, "What inspired you to become a massage therapist?," her story would be clear. After a traumatic and painful car accident in 1996, her entire life changed. A life that was healthy and active before was now filled with pain medications and suggestions of several major surgeries. As time passed she just remembers thinking "Will I ever feel better?" With wanting a healthier way to cope with the healing process, she chose the safe and natural approach with chiropractic care and massage therapy. As a patient, she was intrigued with how the body responded to manipulation with human touch. She now believed in the body's ability to heal and soon realized that massage not only helped restore health and wholeness but also deepened her own self awareness and quality of life. Shellie then knew, that she too, wanted to help heal others with professional massage therapy.
Graduating with accredited honors from The Winters School of Advance Massage Therapy in 1999. Shellie incorporated the skills acquired with her education and ran a successful private practice until 2003. To further her career and passion, she continued her education with a more medical approach which included Pre/Post Natal, Infant Massage, Pre/Post Surgery, Sports Recovery, Medical Massage, Somatic Response with Passive and Active Modalities, Lymphatic Drainage, Ear Candling, and has studied the advanced healing of Qi Gong with the Grand Master of Imperial Chi. Shellie has enjoyed working closely with chiropractic care since 2003 and is now proudly working with Dr. Kristi and the entire Back to Health Team.
