 What is Laser Therapy?

Low level laser therapy is the use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near infrared) to create therapeutic effects. These effects include improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation and decreased swelling. The light may be provided by a low power laser or LED (light emitting diode). The laser emits energy in a form of photons; these particles of energy are absorbed by cells and tissue resulting in conversion of light into biochemical energy. Multiple physiological responses are thereby initiated and normal cell function is restored. This process is curative and eliminates symptoms. (i.e. pain, edema, etc.)

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does each treatment take?

A typical treatment duration is 5-15 minutes depending on the size of the area and condition being treated.

How often should a patient be treated?

Acute conditions may be treated daily, particularly if they are accompanied by significant pain. More chronic problems respond better when treatments are received 2-3 times a week tapering to once a week or once every other week, with improvement.

How many treatments does it take?

This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. For some acute conditions, 1-6 treatments may be sufficient. Those of a more chronic nature may require 10-15 treatments. Conditions such as severe arthritis may require ongoing periodic care to control the pain.

How long before the results are felt?

You may feel improvement in your condition (usually pain reduction) after the very first treatment. Sometimes you will not feel improvement for a number of treatments. This does not mean that nothing is happening. Each treatment is cumulative and results are often felt after 3 or 4 sessions.

What does treatment cost?

For any of my current, existing patients, I provide the first treatment to you complimentary. I want you to see the benefits and abilities of this laser for yourself.

The series of 6 treatments costs $240.00.  Although we do not recommend single visits, sometimes they are necessary and will cost $40.00.  Insurance does not cover the cost of these visits but that is in the works.  Your flexible spending or health savings accounts will cover the laser treatments and  I will furnish you a receipt.

Can I come in just for the Laser Treatment and not Chiropractic care?

Yes. No matter if you are currently my patient or not, I obtained this technology to help people with painful conditions or situations. You are welcome to come for laser treatments only. Some of you reading this would never consider going to the Chiropractor in the first place.  If you, your family or friends are interested in the laser, just give us a call to schedule. You will be surprised at how much the laser can help you.

If I am not a patient and want just laser treatment, what is expected of me?

You can call to schedule an appointment where I will need to do an initial exam to find out about your specific health condition and find out how laser therapy can help you.  I can explain what is happening with your body, your condition and outline your treatment plan.  I will then perform your first laser treatment that day.  Expect to spend 30 minutes on your first visit, then 15 minutes for visits after that.

Payment of your entire 6 laser sessions will be expected at the completion of the first visit. Even though health insurances do not pay for the laser treatments, your insurance may pay for your examination in my office. My staff will check your health benefits for you. Your health savings account of flexible spending can also be used to pay for your treatments.
